Most people don’t think about germs until they get sick, but these organisms, good and bad, can be found everywhere and on everything.
Even the best handwashing diligence cannot prevent people from eventually becoming ill.
But for the most vulnerable population—the elderly, young children and people with compromised immune systems—staying away from germs is a higher priority. A new company with a cutting-edge technology is working to keep those germs at bay.
BioGuard is a sanitizing service company that uses a proprietary system to safely and quickly sanitize a room from floor to ceiling. Developed in Japan, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration-registered device employs a fine mist application to reach the nooks and crannies that can’t be cleaned by hand. The 60 psi spray is safe for fabrics, electronics, metals wood and more.
The “secret sauce” of BioGuard is the sanitizing solution—approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the National Sanitation Foundation and the Underwriters Laboratories—that kills germs and microorganisms, such as salmonella and Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
BioGuard specialists begin by swabbing a work or play area and evaluating the results with a luminometer, an EPA-approved device for measuring surface cleanliness. The results can be assessed on-site and a report generated before and after treatment. BioGuard treats and disinfects from the ground up, including air ducts, computer equipment and keyboards.
The best candidates for BioGuard include places where people gather and germs spread like offices, restaurants, gyms, hospitals, doctor’s offices and day-care centers. What about homes?
“Occupants of a home or apartment acclimate to their own germs,” said Robin Schuldenfrei, president and CEO. “However, if you just had a round of the flu or a contagious illness in your home, you can benefit from a BioGuard treatment.”
BioGuard recently treated the 40 patient rooms at Brooke Grove Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Sandy Spring, Md.
Consultations are free and treatments are priced at just 11 cents per floor square foot. Based on test results, a BioGuard technician can determine the recommended frequency of sanitizing treatments.
Companies and residents are also provided with reports and a certificate of sanitization. For more information or to reach BioGuard, call 855-888-5008 or visit www.bioguardinc.com and its Facebook page.
