Top dining app debuts game-style discount platform in the greater Baltimore area
Spotluck, one of the area’s most popular discount dining apps, now hopes to become as beloved in Baltimore as the Ravens, Orioles and Natty Boh. The app officially launches in Charm City this Friday, October 21st.
Spotluck consistently ranks as the #1 dining app on the iTunes app store. With viral success around Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia, Baltimore was the natural choice for expansion for the platform. Over 600 locally-owned restaurants in the DMV and Philly participate on Spotluck. The mobile app will debut in Baltimore with 70 partner restaurants across five neighborhoods.
With the simple spin of a wheel, Spotluck users discover new restaurants and enjoy “smart” discounts that range from 10%-35% off. The free app’s discounts fluctuate based on factors like day, time, and weather, working under the premise that going out should cost less on a rainy Monday night than on a busy Friday night.
The Bethesda-based company works exclusively with local spots — not chains. Popular Baltimore restaurants include Mother’s Grille, Café Hon, Mama’s on the Half Shell, Wayward, Alma Cocina, Langermann’s, Whiskey Hill, Points South, Fells Point Tavern, Mussel Bar, and Café Troia. Spotluck launched Baltimore with restaurants in Fells Point, Federal Hill, Canton, Towson, and Hampden. The app will be expanding to Mt. Vernon, Locust Point, Columbia, and Ellicott City in the coming weeks.
“Baltimore’s local restaurants have tremendous pride in their neighborhoods. We’re excited to bring them together on Spotluck to collectively share the city’s local flavors,” said Cherian Thomas, Spotluck’s CEO.
