Marylanders are getting a little reprieve this year with school starting after Labor Day. But the mad dash for school shopping has been underway in fits and spurts.

In this rush, it is inevitable that you will forget something.

The basics are covered on school supply lists, but what about those items that make you and your kid’s lives a little easier?

Kidbox

Back-to-school sales can lead to empty racks and disappointment. A new company called Kidbox delivers a curated box of clothing based on your child’s age, fit, style and color palette. Boxes are shipped five times a year and include six to seven items. Skip any time you want.

Water Bottles

A reusable water bottle is good for the environment and essential to keeping kids hydrated throughout the school day. Swap out your plastic ones for stainless steel, vacuum-sealed bottles that keep water ice cold for up to 24 hours.

Underwear and Socks

In our haste to buy uniforms, pants, shirts, dresses and shoes, we sometimes forget about what’s underneath. Back-to-school season is when stores stock value packs of socks and underwear at great prices. Buy a size up and stash them away for when your kids need them.

Device Wipes

Children of all ages are increasingly using phones, tablets and computers on a daily basis. These devices can harbor the germs your kids pick up at school, making the entire household sick. Wireless Wipes are formulated to safely clean and disinfect your mobile devices without causing damage. They are available in rosemary or peppermint scent.

School Lunches

If you have a child who refuses to buy lunch, you know about the trials and tribulations of making lunches. Author J.M. Hirsch wrote the book on lunches, literally. Beating the Lunch Box Blues: Fresh Ideas for Lunches on the Go is packed with more than 500 tips and meals, including ingenious ways to keep hot food hot.
