Make Eyewear and Eye Exams Part of Your Back-to-School Routine

Protecting our eyes has been in the news recently because of the solar eclipse, but vision care should be a major priority, especially as school approaches.

The Vision Council and the American Optometric Association launched the Think About Your Eyes campaign to educate the public on vision health, according to a news release.

The online campaign allows users to search for local doctors by typing in their ZIP code and specifying an appropriate travel distance.

In addition, videos and articles provide information on digital eyestrain; early detection of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and stroke through eye exams; and a virtual demonstration of how the world looks to a child without glasses, among other topics.

To help find the most fashion forward eyewear, the Vision Council’s Eyecessorize campaign is the go-to source for the fall/winter 2017 eyewear trends.

Upcoming trends include vibrant hues such as bright pinks, vivacious purples, saturated greens and teals, plus sunshine yellows, fiery reds and cerulean blues with staple blacks and grays; and an assortment of smart rectangles, glamorous cat eyes, retro-reminiscent rounds, playful heart shapes and sporty wraparound profiles, plus varying mature aviators, easygoing squares
